The Art of Pairing
11:00 AM to 5:30 PM     Fri, May 1, 2015 - Sun, May 3, 2015
Venue: The Tasting Room at Painted Rock, 400 Smythe Drive, Penticton
Contact: Kirsten Munro 250 486 5175,

Join us at Painted Rock’s stunning tasting room as we open for the season.  Enjoy tasting each of our wines perfectly paired with gourmet cheese and charcuterie from Oyama Sausage.  Learn about the art of pairing food and wine to highlight, enhance and elevate the overall taste experience.  This event is complementary. May 1-3, 2015 daily from 11:00am-5:30pm.  The pairings from Oyama Sausage are below:

Rose’ – Lemon Confit salami:  The lemon and citrus notes in the salami bring out the zesty grapefruit notes in the rose, while the fattiness of the meat is balanced perfectly with the fresh acidity in the wine.

Merlot- Aged Gouda:  Aged cheeses often need a wine with structure and intensity which the Merlot provides. The sweet notes of the Gouda, balances and rounds out the fruit in the Merlot, while the tannin in the wine becomes more balanced and approachable with the salty tang found in the cheese.

Syrah - Red Wine Air Dried Beef:  This robust, red wine cured beef is the perfect accompaniment to the Syrah as both show similar characteristics of white pepper, spice, red fruit and game. The tannins in the wine soften and the acidity shines when enjoyed alongside this salty beef.

Red Icon – Pork & Duck Rillettes and cornichons:  The richness in the rillettes balances the weight of the Red Icon, while the acidity found in the cornichon brings out the acidity and minerality in the wine, ensuring this pairing is not too heavy or cloying on the palate. The game meats in the rillettes is enhanced and compliments the gamey, earthy notes found in the Red Icon.

EAT! Vancouver Cioppino's Dinner
6:30 PM     Sun, May 3, 2015
Venue: Cioppino's Restaurant, 1133 Hamilton Street, Vancouver

Sponsored by Painted Rock Estate Winery and Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars, Canada's Mark McEwan joins friend and winner of Vancouver Magazine's 2014 Best Chef of the Year Pino Posteraro for an intimate evening at Cioppino's.  Mark McEwan, the head judge on Food Network Canada's Top Chef Canada, which ran for four seasons, was responsible for launching the careers of many young Canadian chefs.  A Canadian culinary icon, McEwan owns three of Toronto's landmark restaurant:  North 44, Bymark and ONE.  His catering compnay was the star of the Food Network Canada's "The Heat with Mark McEwan," and in 2009 he opened his first upscale gourmet grocery store, "McEwan", with a second store opening this spring. McEwan's restaurants have set the standard for fine dining in Canada.

Cioppino's Mediterranean Grill, which opened in 1999, signalled the arrival of high-end dining in Vancouver's then emerging Yaletown. Today Yaletown is one of Vancouver's most stylish neighbourhoods, and Cioppino's remains one of the city's top culinary destinations. The Canucks are regular customers, and Vancouver socialites as well as Hollywood celebrities like Jennifer Anniston dine in the private wine room.  Chef Pino Posteraro is one of only a handful of Canadian chefs to be inducted into the prestigious DiRoNA (Distinguished Restaurants of North America).

$225.00 includes sparkling welcome, five-course dinner, wine pairings and gratuity (taxes not included).  Includes complimentary ticket to EAT! Vancouver at BC Place taking place May 1st-May 3rd, valid any day. Family style seating.  Limited to 100 guests.

The closing dinner of the EAT! Vancouver Food and Cooking Festival with Mark McEwan and Pino Posteraro, two of Canada’s chefs at the top of their game, is a must-have ticket.  BUY TICKETS NOW!
