2016 Syrah Cab Sauv
Nuanced aromas of cracked pepper, violets, sage, brambles and black currants. The palate offers delicate, soft tannins with further dark berry and menthol characteristics.
John Schreiner "The blend is 70% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Syrah gives the wine a classically meaty and plummy aroma mingled with black cherry, blackberry and black currants. On the luscious palate, there are flavours of fig, plum and chocolate." 91 Points

2015 Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon (1st vintage released)
92 Points | John Schreiner "The wine is made with grapes from 2009 infill plantings in the Syrah and Cabernet blocks in the vineyard, with each varietal fermented and aged separately from the older plantings. The wine begins with aromas of pepper, black currant and cedar, leading to flavours of plum, black cherry and vanilla. The soft, ripe tannins give the wine a svelte, polished texture."

The 2016 growing season started out early and similar to 2015 -hot hot hot. Both bud break and flowering were ahead of schedule in the spring with little rainfall, lots of sun and warm temperatures in both April and May. In June things became less consistent with more rain and lower temperatures. This weather continued through July with temperatures continuing to sit below the average for the first half of the month. It was mid-July before 'summer' seemed to kick back in with temperatures sitting around average for the rest of July, August and September.
